Guidelines of Express Yourself (as established by Victoria and the various participants of Express Yourself from workshops through December 2017):
- Everything suggested, offered or prompted by the facilitator is an invitation and a guidance, not a command or an expectation.
- No performing! Be curious and share with yourself and with each other, but if what you are doing begins to feel like performing, stop, sit down, make it smaller, take a breath, decrease the intensity, find gravity.
- Remember that Breathing IS Movement!
- Notice the desire to express yourself through verbal communication, resist it, let it go and then allow the desire to express connect into and out of you in a non-verbal way.
- Notice. Notice. Notice:
- your relationship to your Breath.
- your places of support.
- what is happening withIN you
- what is happening withOUT you withIN your visual awareness
- your patterns of thought, response and action
- your curiosity. your joy. your reluctance. your desire.
- If you experience exhaustion, frustration or demoralizing thoughts, change something. Change your position. Move yourself in space. Find a new body shape. Adjust the size and/or intensity of your action. Stop. Breathe. Find your support.
- Be curious.
- Give yourself permission...move “yes,” move “no,” move “maybe,” move “not right now.”
